This year’s Canadian Crystal was an extraordinary and memorable evening set against the backdrop of Canada’s 150th.  From the moment guests arrived at The Isabel they were treated to creative décor, student art exhibits and delicious canapés inspired by our land, coast-to-coast-to-coast. The Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts offered the Canadian Crystal a venue to perfectly stage the three-act extravaganza. View a highlight video of the event.

CANADIAN CRYSTAL ONLINE AUCTION hosted by maxsold.comwas an incredible success, raising over $33,000 for the Limestone Learning Foundation. We can't thank auction donors and bidders alike for their support.

As the LLF has successfully done with The Crystal Ball, Canadian Crystal will once again allow student musicians to participate in a professional setting, gaining experience in the production and performance of a theatrical show with valuable input from professional musicians. All elements of the evening will be woven into the commemorative moment of Canada’s 150th.

The highlight of the evening was Oh, Canada! – a multi-media concert, featuring original music and other Canadian classics, performed by students of the Limestone District School Board, and mentored by a group of professional musicians. The LLF is pleased to have the incredible talents of Alexandra Mundy, John Abrams, Tim Stiff and Greg Runions producing the show. Short video clips of the student performances are posted on the LLF Canadian Crystal Facebook page and limestonelearningfdn Instagram account.

On behalf of the Limestone Learning Foundation and the Canadian Crystal team, we thank our community for making the event such a huge success. We will be announcing the total raised by this event shortly. The funds raised throught this special event will ensure            enhanced learning opportunities for many children for years to come in literacy, numeracy, science, technology, the arts, and innovation.   The possibilities are limit.

Oh, Canada! - Canadian Crystal Concert - STUDENT VOCALISTS:
Congratulations, and thank you, to the over 70 LDSB students who came out to audition for the Canadian Crystal Concert. Show producers were overwhelmed with the number and calibre of students who auditioned. To perform on a world-class stage, and be mentored by industry leaders, are life-changing experiences. It is what the Limestone District School Board and the Limestone Learning Foundation is all about. Helping students to discover their passions, and supporting them in their pathway to achieve it.

A total of 36 students will perform during Act II of Canadian Crystal. A concert celebrating some of Canada's best music.

Canadian Crystal - AN ARTIST'S JOURNEY:

Art supplies provided by
Visual art phenome, Evan Sharma, brought his artistic talents to the Canadian Crystal. A grade 9 student at LCVI, Evan's style may be described as fauvist expressionist. His work is being acquired by collectors in NYC, LA, Toronto, and London. Evan's work has raised tens of thousands of dollars for charities and the Limestone Learning Foundation is honoured to have Evan's work as a part of the Canadian Crystal online auction.

The general theme Evan explored in his painting was "The World Needs more Canada." Evan was looking for a national symbol that defines Canada's increasing importance on the global stage. Evan wanted to paint an iconic Canadian person or place for the 150th anniversary. In the end he preferred a place as, to Evan, Canada means vast spaces, rugged geography and from that, experiences and communities can be created In the end, he has decided to create a landscape of Peggy's Cove to convey a number of thoughts.

This incredible original 48" x 40" acrylic on canvas was the feature item of the Canadian Crystal Online Auction. Through Evan's talent, and the successful bidder, Evan's painting raised $6,000 for the Limestone Learning Foundation.

Evan also painted during the evening, interpreting the themes of the LLF and Canadian Crystal.

Tickets for this one-of-a-kind event are still available. Please call the Limestone Learning Foundation today at 613-544-6925 ext. 210 to order yours.
