Canadian Crystal Event Launch & Media Conference
The Limestone Learning Foundation is honoured to have an amazing array of talented students and critically acclaimed artists participate and perform during the Johnson Insurance Canadian Crystal Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. A three-act extravaganza featuring canapés, auctions, live music, and dancing set against the backdrop of Canada’s 150th was unveiled to media and special guests at an event launch held June 13, 2017.

“Over the last several years, LLF special events, like the Crystal Ball Gala, and now Canadian Crystal, raise significant funds to support grants to schools for creative learning projects across the district,” states Kath Leverette, chair of the LLF. “That is why the Crystal Ball Gala, and this year’s Canadian Crystal, are such unique fundraising events. They bring together mentors and students, hands-on learning, and in some cases, profound personal experiences, as well as, a community committed to excellence in public education and the Arts.”

The highlight of the evening is sure to be the All-Canadian Concert  – a 60-minute multi-media event, featuring original music and other Canadian classics, performed by students of the LDSB, and mentored by a group of professional musicians. The LLF is pleased to have the incredible talents of Alexandra Mundy, John Abrams, Tim Stiff and Greg Runions producing the show.

Alexandra Mundy – Producer of the Canadian Crystal Concert, brings extensive knowledge and creativity in drama, music and movement. As a music and arts educator, and musician herself, Alexandra’s strong musicality will add another dimension to the Canadian Crystal.

John Abrams - one half of the award winning group, and Warner Music-Canada Recording Artists “The Abrams”  knows just a little bit about Bluegrass, Gospel, and Country. The Abrams have mastered it all, and are now taking their youthful energy and applying it to their own, unique sound….John’s  experience on the road performing, and vocal and production talents will be immense to the show.

Tim Stiff - Canadian Opera Company alumni, Broadway performer, music educator, producer and Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences composer, brings a lifetime of professional stage experience and teaching expertise to the Canadian Crystal as its Musical Director. Mr. Stiff will be assisted by Greg Runions, composer, musician and teacher, who has been creating music for Big Band, Jazz, and improvised music for over 25 years, he will fill the role of Music Supervisor.

Act III of the evening will be a reflection and celebration of the Learning Foundation’s success. The all-Canadian theme continues with music performed by Lil Magic and the Wise 5, an up and coming Kingston band, fronted by Reid Cunningham, a graduate of the Limestone District School Board.
