LLF Flashback: Naming of the Annual Golf Tournament

The Limestone Learning Foundation proudly names its annual golf tournament in honour of Sandra Davison, whose vision, leadership, and dedication helped shape the Foundation from its earliest days.

As Communications Manager with the Limestone District School Board, Sandra was instrumental in establishing the Foundation’s first fundraising plans beginning in 1998. Working alongside the inaugural Board of Directors, she organized and led teams of volunteers to deliver the LLF’s first formal fundraising galas, setting a standard of excellence through thoughtful programming, student showcases, live and silent auctions, and community connection.

Sandra also led the creation of the annual LLF Golf Tournament, bringing her exceptional organizational skills and collaborative spirit to an event that quickly became a cornerstone of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Following her passing in 2005, the Board renamed the tournament in her honour, ensuring her contributions would be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.

Today, the Sandra Davison Memorial Golf Classic continues to be a significant fundraising milestone, supported by many of the same donors, volunteers, players, and members of Sandra’s extended family who return year after year. Through this legacy, the LLF has raised more than $2 million to enhance excellence in learning across LDSB schools.

We are honoured to carry forward Sandra’s legacy by continuing to invest in literacy, the arts, technology, wellness, equity, and opportunity for students throughout our community.

Cyber Incident Notification

In mid-April 2025, Limestone District School Board (LDSB) experienced a cyber incident that required us to take down all internet-based services as a precautionary measure. In May, we notified community members that the perpetrators of the cyber incident stole personal information about members of the LDSB community, following which we continued to analyze stolen information to identify the full extent of the exposure. Unfortunately, we can now confirm that the stolen information included the information of Limestone Learning Foundation current and past donors. We understand this news may be concerning, and we are deeply sorry that this has occurred.

We are yet to learn of any misuse of the exposed information and believe the risk of publication and misuse to be low.

More information is available on Limestone District School Board’s Cyber Incident webpage, including answers to frequently asked questions, updates on the cyber incident, and guidance on steps you can take to protect your information online. We encourage all individuals to review the information provided.

"Empowering Future Innovators: Limestone Learning Foundation Fuels STEM Excellence in Schools"

The Limestone Learning Foundation (LLF) was thrilled to fully fund this initiation, providing robust STEM kits for use by students in Grade 9 and 10 Technology Courses at all 10 secondary schools across the Limestone District School Board in the amount of $250,000. These kits extend student learning aligned with the new TAS10, and TAS20 - Technology and the Skilled Trades Grade 9 and 10 Technology courses. These courses are compulsory credits and help fulfil the technology graduation requirement as part of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. There are several additional Grade 9 and 10 courses where students would also have opportunities to access the LLF STEM kits in Communications Technology, Technological Design, and Green Industries, to name a few.

The kits were delivered to schools in the fall of 2024, and include:

Micro:bits: pocket-sized computers that introduce how software and hardware work together, allowing them to design systems that sense and respond to their environment.

Micro:bit Climate Action Kits: used with Micro:bits these activities align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging students to engage in inquiry projects with real-world impact.
