I think it is important to have a diverse selection of books because if the students don't know about their culture, they won't know if they are indigenous or a settler or even both and that would be bad.

The part of the book that attracted me was the part where a 12 year old girl named Lillian thought she didn't belong anywhere. Her mom was Indigenous and her dad was not, so she thought she had mixed blood and she thought she didn’t belong.
We have a lot in common, one thing we don’t have in common is she does not have a family but I do (I feel really sad for her). People make fun of Lillian but not me, which I think she had a really hard life. I feel really bad for her.

I have had personal connections with the book because Lillian is Indigenous and a settler. I am Indigenous and a settler and my mom is Indigenous and my dad is not (we also both love to dance).
